She Uses A Sperm Donor To Get Pregnant. But When She Tracks Down The Father? Impossible!

A lot of little girls have similar ideas about love and life. It's easy to believe that everything will happen like it does in the movies — you know, the one where the pretty girl is unhappily dating some ignoramus jock who treats her horribly, but then meets an amazing guy who's "totally not her type" but they hit it off resulting in an epic showdown between the two guys to win over her heart? Yeah, that one. Well, whether you realize it or not, life isn't anything like the movies. Nobody knows this better than Aminah Hart.

Her story is unlike anything I've ever heard before...

Aminah, like many girls, grew up believing that one day her Prince Charming would come, they would have children and the family would live happily ever after. But unfortunately for her, this wasn't exactly the case. The romantic aspect of her life started off well enough — she met a man she loved, they got married and before long they gave birth to their first child. They named him Marlon.

But they quickly realized that something wasn't quite right with Marlon.

Marlon suffered from some early complications, and after just four months, Aminah's firstborn child had passed away. The doctors told her that it was due to a hereditary genetic disorder that they were unable to properly diagnose. The loss of Marlon devastated the new parents and ultimately led to issues in their relationship, followed by a divorce.

Before she knew it, Aminah had lost her entire family...

But Aminah didn't give up hope. Eventually she met a new man and the two decided to try to have a baby. Nine months later, Aminah's second son, Louis, was born. However, tragedy would soon strike again as baby Louis passed away just two months after his first birthday. Aminah began to lose confidence that she'd ever be a mother like she had always hoped.

This time around, however, the doctors were able to pinpoint the issue.

The death of both of Aminah's children was due to a condition she had passed down to them called X-linked myotubular myopathy — a condition that affects muscles used for movement. Aminah feared that she would never be able to give birth to a healthy baby, but she so desperately wanted to be a mother.

It was the toughest decision of her life, especially since there was a one in four chance that she would give birth to a baby with the same genetic condition that killed her first two children.

She thought long and hard and finally decided to give motherhood one last chance. In late 2011, she chose a donor by the name of Scott Andersen, and nine months later she gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Leila. Aminah couldn't believe it! After such pain and hardship, she had finally gotten what she always wanted — a healthy baby. But that's not all...

Everything changed when she decided to take Leila to meet her biological father...
